About OAC
What we do and why it is important
Outdoor Against Cancer (OAC) is an internationally operating NGO with an broad network of highly qualified partners and in-house specialists that has made health its mission: HEALTH UNITES US. Already active in health education and prevention of cancer/non-communicable diseases (NCDs). OAC has expanded its focus from cancer to all NCDs, through promotion of the four OAC pillars of a healthy lifestyle: (1) Physical Activity and Outdoor Sports; (2) Balanced Nutrition; (3) Sustainability & Nature; (4) Physical & Mental Well-Being.
Two OAC project proposals in the framework of EU4H are part of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan Rock Your HEALTH - RYHEALTH and Outdoor Against Cancer Connects Us - OACCUs. OAC excels at research, scientific knowledge transfer, international networking, dissemination, and communication (keynotes, spotlight, panelist, scientific board member). OAC has extensive expertise in working with vulnerable population groups. Digital tools and automated processes ensure extensive reach and visibility.

International network of organisations committed to make it happen
Soon after the diagnosis of cancer I saw an OAC flyer on display in my clinic, the offer appealed to me immediately. So I went straight to the next training session.
Outdoor training outside in the park is always wonderful, even during chemo (with half the strength) and radiation, and even now two years later, after the daily work routine on the PC. The weekly appointment reminds me how much I can do for my health myself.
Meeting others there gave me courage and I felt welcome and part of the team right away. I particularly appreciate the fact that family and friends are also welcome, because I was able to share this experience with my sister and because you walk the path through illness together with your loved ones.
In short: at OAC you get courage, fun, strength, joie de vivre, health - all the good things that sport can offer, but without any pressure to perform.
